Who's for real and who's fake news in the NFL?

We break it down as well as give our NBA Playoffs & Finals predictions for this season.

Transcript
Marcel:

What up, it's your boy, Marcel hall.

Marcel:

And thank you for listening to the hallway podcast.

Marcel:

As usual we talk about sports, hip hop, life kingdom, you name it.

Marcel:

Whatever's going on in the news.

Marcel:

We talk about it today.

Marcel:

We're talking about the NFL.

Marcel:

And the NBA, I have some predictions and some breakdowns for you, but

Marcel:

first let's hit on my Atlanta Braves.

Marcel:

Last time I told y'all, we were a little nervous about the Dodgers brought.

Marcel:

My boys came through now with the three to lead in the world series.

Marcel:

And I am nervous.

Marcel:

I'm not going to lie.

Marcel:

I'm nervous.

Marcel:

I wish we would have won on Sunday nights that would've calmed my nerves.

Marcel:

But now that we're going back to H town.

Marcel:

Houston is deadly.

Marcel:

They're known to cheat.

Marcel:

My brains have known, have been known in the past to choke a

Marcel:

little bit, but I'm still faithful.

Marcel:

What a little bit of doubt.

Marcel:

But let's hope my braids pull out the victory here tomorrow night

Marcel:

after college football, USC.

Marcel:

Again, wins, feel like losses.

Marcel:

We lose our best player, Drake, London, and even the victory over a team

Marcel:

that hasn't won a game in two years, we still have a competitive game.

Marcel:

We're a big, we're expected to win big and we barely win.

Marcel:

Bye.

Marcel:

A touchdown.

Marcel:

So needless to say.

Marcel:

Your boy is not fired up about USC football.

Marcel:

Let's just hope and pray.

Marcel:

Then we get the right coach, but let's go ahead and let's get back

Marcel:

to a segment that we do on this show called real deal or fake news.

Marcel:

On real deal or fake news, we try to see who's the real deal.

Marcel:

And who's just fake news.

Marcel:

And this is our NFL mid season version of real deal or fake news.

Marcel:

We're going to look at some top teams.

Marcel:

We're not gonna look at all the teams.

Marcel:

We're just going to look at some top teams and a couple of teams worthy of

Marcel:

consideration, maybe some sleepers or just, they are the talk of the NFL.

Marcel:

So.

Marcel:

Let's go ahead and let's get into it.

Marcel:

The NFC.

Marcel:

The NFC is the real.

Marcel:

Deal.

Marcel:

The top teams with the best records, all hail in the NFC.

Marcel:

You have the Packers, the Rams at Cardinals.

Marcel:

And most people's favorites.

Marcel:

The Buccaneers net.

Marcel:

AFCs good.

Marcel:

Don't get me wrong.

Marcel:

And they could still have a team that wins the super bowl, but currently.

Marcel:

The NFC is the better conference and they are the real deal.

Marcel:

Now let's go ahead and stick with it and see, and let's go with some

Marcel:

of the top teams, any NFC, and let's see what we have to say.

Marcel:

Dallas Cowboys.

Marcel:

Fake news.

Marcel:

Yes, they Cowboys have one of the best records.

Marcel:

Yes, they are better and yes, they have a lot of talents.

Marcel:

But there are still the Dallas Cowboys.

Marcel:

Over-hyped.

Marcel:

And they have a legacy of underachieving.

Marcel:

That's the Dallas Cowboys.

Marcel:

Now, let me ask you a question.

Marcel:

Do you trust Mike McCarthy?

Marcel:

Do you trust Dak Prescott?

Marcel:

To beat.

Marcel:

You by throwing in the playoffs.

Marcel:

Do you really trust that combination?

Marcel:

I liked deck.

Marcel:

Don't get me wrong, even though he's a cowboy and I'm not a cowboy fan.

Marcel:

I liked deck, but I think other quarterbacks in the playoffs

Marcel:

that they'll face are better.

Marcel:

They are not the real deal, but fake news, green bay Packers.

Marcel:

Again, we have a team that looks on the surface to be the real

Marcel:

deal, but we've seen this before.

Marcel:

Haven't we.

Marcel:

And the regular season, they look good, but in the NFC championship game,

Marcel:

when they play the tougher teams, The tougher teams always get the Packers.

Marcel:

It doesn't matter if it's on the road or if it's in Lambeau field.

Marcel:

Over the last several years and I don't see anything different.

Marcel:

So, yes, they're good.

Marcel:

But they're really fake news.

Marcel:

Now, unless they play the Cowboys and the NFC championship game, then

Marcel:

they're going to the super bowl.

Marcel:

But if not, then they are not for real.

Marcel:

Tampa bay Buccaneers.

Marcel:

It pains me to say this.

Marcel:

And look, I want to hate on Tom Brady.

Marcel:

And in fact, I'm always rooting against Tom Brady, but I can't deny reality.

Marcel:

The sky is blue.

Marcel:

Tom Brady is great.

Marcel:

And the Buccaneers are the real deal.

Marcel:

Don't let the loss against the saints.

Marcel:

Get you confused or against the Rams, the bucks have a squad.

Marcel:

Have you seen their squad?

Marcel:

Now?

Marcel:

They're getting players back on defense.

Marcel:

They, they have a squad on, on offense.

Marcel:

There's no, there's no holes.

Marcel:

Defense.

Marcel:

They have some Playmakers bucks have a squad.

Marcel:

Now I'm not saying they're going to repeat, but they are for real.

Marcel:

Let's go on over to the saints.

Marcel:

They're fake news.

Marcel:

Y'all now look, I know that they beat the bucks.

Marcel:

And they have the books number in the regular season, as we can see,

Marcel:

they beat them three times now in the regular season in a row, they have a

Marcel:

good defense at top-notch head coach and Sean Payton, who knows how to

Marcel:

get the most out of his quarterbacks.

Marcel:

However, Winston is out.

Marcel:

And the offense really isn't that good.

Marcel:

So.

Marcel:

I don't even think that they're going to even make the playoffs.

Marcel:

Now that James Winston is out.

Marcel:

Now they might, but I highly doubt it.

Marcel:

So don't be fooled by the surprising start that they've had

Marcel:

for the first half of the season.

Marcel:

Let's go on over to Arizona with the Cardinals.

Marcel:

The Cardinals are for real.

Marcel:

Y'all.

Marcel:

And I know they had that loss the other night against the Packers, but the

Marcel:

Cardinals are, are for real, I'm not a believer in the system, but the coaches.

Marcel:

W has been wise enough to modify it.

Marcel:

And they have a squad.

Marcel:

Um, you look at their roster, they have a squad Murray and a weapons are incredible.

Marcel:

The defense is better.

Marcel:

I know they just lost Y but Y wasn't really producing much really.

Marcel:

Anyway.

Marcel:

So now I don't think that they're going to win the super bowl, but I do believe that

Marcel:

they have a legit shot at getting there.

Marcel:

If they have home field advantage in the playoffs.

Marcel:

Let's go on over to LA with the Rams.

Marcel:

Again, this hurts me, man.

Marcel:

It hurts me to say this, but the Rams are the real deal.

Marcel:

I don't like them.

Marcel:

I will never cheer for them unless they're playing Tom Brady.

Marcel:

But I can't deny reality.

Marcel:

I can't deny the talent.

Marcel:

They got a squad.

Marcel:

Uh, McVay knows what he's doing in all offense.

Marcel:

And Stafford looks well with the team so far, and then they just

Marcel:

added Von Miller to the defense.

Marcel:

And that's scary.

Marcel:

And he's not the same Von Miller bro from before, but when you

Marcel:

add him to that defensive front,

Marcel:

Ooh, that's scary.

Marcel:

And Stafford is obviously an upgrade from golf.

Marcel:

At QB, but here's the thing Ram fans.

Marcel:

We still have to wait to see what will staffer do when the real spotlight is on.

Marcel:

When the, when the lights are really on, what is your boy

Marcel:

going to do in the big games?

Marcel:

He's never played in one.

Marcel:

So we do not know let's go on over now.

Marcel:

What my services go, 49ers.

Marcel:

Yes, they are the real deal.

Marcel:

All right.

Marcel:

Now at least they should and could be the real deal.

Marcel:

I know some of y'all hate and right now they have a losing record, but

Marcel:

the 49ers didn't start off to a great.

Marcel:

Uh, started the season.

Marcel:

I know, but we've had injuries again, just like last year and a

Marcel:

quarterback play and the coaching.

Marcel:

Has been suspect up to this point, however, we're going to get healthy.

Marcel:

And last game might have been the resurrection of the season.

Marcel:

Might've woken some people up there.

Marcel:

. Now they probably won't win the division.

Marcel:

But they can get that last playoff spot and check this out.

Marcel:

Don't sleep on the 49 is to still win the super bowl.

Marcel:

Don't sleep.

Marcel:

Don't sleep on.

Marcel:

You may say I'm a Homer.

Marcel:

I don't really care.

Marcel:

But look at that roster.

Marcel:

Look at that squad.

Marcel:

They are the real deal, unless they lose their next game, then I'm going to be hot.

Marcel:

All right, let's go on over to the AAFC.

Marcel:

Let's start off in the east of what the Buffalo bills.

Marcel:

They're a complete team.

Marcel:

The bills are for real.

Marcel:

Complete team in the sense that they have a really good

Marcel:

offense, really good defense.

Marcel:

And I still think they need an upgrade at the running back position, but they keep

Marcel:

building off the previous year success.

Marcel:

If you look at the bills for last couple of years, they keep getting better.

Marcel:

Over the neck.

Marcel:

The next year from what they previously did and show this year show signs to

Marcel:

take step, take that next major step.

Marcel:

Now last year, I thought the only team that they couldn't beat and

Marcel:

didn't match up well was Kansas city.

Marcel:

Now, unless Kansas city turns it around, I think the bills

Marcel:

can beat any team in the AFC.

Marcel:

And if they're not the favorite, then they're there.

Marcel:

One beat.

Marcel:

It's going over to the Patriots.

Marcel:

Oh, man, this is fake news.

Marcel:

A lot of people are jumping on the bandwagon right now.

Marcel:

Yes, they're better than they were earlier in the year.

Marcel:

Yes.

Marcel:

They might even sneak into the playoffs, but they're not real contenders.

Marcel:

Okay.

Marcel:

Again, I won't be surprised that they don't make the playoffs.

Marcel:

I know bill Belichick is doing his thing right now.

Marcel:

They're getting better, but, but guys, have you seen their team?

Marcel:

They don't have an awesome team.

Marcel:

Now there's a lot of teams that they can compete with, but they'll

Marcel:

lose when it comes to the real championship rounds they're gonna lose.

Marcel:

They're they're they're not the real deal.

Marcel:

Don't worry about the Patriots.

Marcel:

Let's go on over to Baltimore.

Marcel:

The Ravens are the real deal.

Marcel:

And I know they had a bad loss recently, but the Ravens or the

Marcel:

real deal Lamar is the truth.

Marcel:

And the team is confident, love hardball, and the culture that he's created since

Marcel:

Ray Lewis and beyond, and like the bills.

Marcel:

I don't like them against Kansas city, but they can be anybody in the

Marcel:

league, especially if they are at home.

Marcel:

It's going over to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Marcel:

Last game proved that they are fake news.

Marcel:

Now look, I like burrow.

Marcel:

I like chase and I know they have some talent out there,

Marcel:

but they're not there yet.

Marcel:

Don't get excited.

Marcel:

You guys got to happy.

Marcel:

They're not there yet.

Marcel:

They're competitive.

Marcel:

And they've had a couple of shocking new wins, but they're not ready.

Marcel:

They're just not ready.

Marcel:

I don't believe they'll even make the playoffs this year.

Marcel:

I think they're going to hit a nice little skid here.

Marcel:

And fall off.

Marcel:

Tennessee Titans.

Marcel:

Fake news.

Marcel:

Fake news.

Marcel:

I know they've had some big victories, but did you hear the latest.

Marcel:

They're keen return.

Marcel:

And out.

Marcel:

And that's terrible.

Marcel:

I would've said prior to the injury, they were the real deal.

Marcel:

But since the injury, they're not on the radar.

Marcel:

Now they have some weapons, but I can't depend on that passing game.

Marcel:

Can you.

Marcel:

Not love my gray bull, the coach, but they are no longer the real deal that

Marcel:

sad, but they fallen off and I think they could still make the playoffs, but

Marcel:

they're nothing , to worry about an AFC.

Marcel:

Let's go on over to the Las Vegas.

Marcel:

Raiders.

Marcel:

Look, you all the radios are the real deal.

Marcel:

Now that look, they're not going to the Superbowl.

Marcel:

Okay.

Marcel:

They're not going, but they're for real they're for real team.

Marcel:

I mean nail was made to playoffs last year, but they fell off toward the end

Marcel:

of the season, but I believe the Gruden situation has actually inspired them.

Marcel:

Maybe some to win for Gruden or something to just prove that, Hey,

Marcel:

we could do it without grooming, whatever it is, but they have a T

Marcel:

they have a talented squad or offense.

Marcel:

They have weapons.

Marcel:

Defense.

Marcel:

I'm not too impressed with, but I do believe the defense is a lot better.

Marcel:

And I think that they can actually win that division.

Marcel:

And so therefore they are legitimate.

Marcel:

Let's go on over to LA with the chargers.

Marcel:

Charges of fake news.

Marcel:

Y'all.

Marcel:

Look, they're a good team and I believe that they'll make the playoffs,

Marcel:

but they're not a real contender.

Marcel:

Look, I love Herbert.

Marcel:

I actually do.

Marcel:

I didn't think he was going to be this good, but I love him.

Marcel:

, but I'm still not a fan of their run game.

Marcel:

And although, uh, the new head coach, Brandon Staley likes to take chances.

Marcel:

His judgment at times seems to be a little odd to me.

Marcel:

And I think they're going to make some mistakes as some key points.

Marcel:

And I just don't trust him when the spotlight comes on.

Marcel:

I just don't trust them.

Marcel:

I maybe next year, but the loss and home to the Patriots proved to me.

Marcel:

That they're not the real deal.

Marcel:

Cause see a team.

Marcel:

That's the real deal.

Marcel:

You, beat the Patriots and you've been in convincingly.

Marcel:

Because they're at your home, you're coming off a bi-week and a bad loss.

Marcel:

You're supposed to go over there and put a whooping on them.

Marcel:

And they did not.

Marcel:

Let's go on over with our last team and AFC that Kansas city chiefs.

Marcel:

Real deal.

Marcel:

Look, I'm like everyone else.

Marcel:

I'm waiting for them to turn it around and I think they will.

Marcel:

So I still think they're the real deal, too much talent on offense.

Marcel:

Defense looks horrible, but the offense will carry them.

Marcel:

And so I think they will turn it around, but if they lose one more

Marcel:

game, like the last couple that they lost, then I'll drop them in there.

Marcel:

Fake news.

Marcel:

Now, one to switch on over to the N B a.

Marcel:

And talk about some predictions here for the season.

Marcel:

Who's going to be in the playoffs.

Marcel:

And who's going to be in the finals.

Marcel:

So let's start off in the west.

Marcel:

And this.

Marcel:

Uh, this article flip-flop a little bit, but in the west I have Utah.

Marcel:

Probably we'll probably actually will be the number one seat again.

Marcel:

But th they're not for real.

Marcel:

So don't worry about them.

Marcel:

The Lakers.

Marcel:

Denver.

Marcel:

Golden state Dallas, Phoenix, Portland, and the last spot.

Marcel:

Memphis JAMA rant, man, that boys for real.

Marcel:

He can make the real deal.

Marcel:

And so I think those would be the eight teams coming out of the west.

Marcel:

So I repeat Utah, Lakers, Denver, golden state, Dallas, Phoenix,

Marcel:

Portland, and Memphis, over in the east.

Marcel:

I think the bucks again, get the number one spot.

Marcel:

Brooklyn.

Marcel:

We don't know what's going to happen with Kyrie, but I think they will

Marcel:

turn things around and are willing to make some trades and some additions.

Marcel:

So don't sleep on them to also pick up somebody else.

Marcel:

During the season.

Marcel:

I have my Chicago bulls coming in at the third spot.

Marcel:

That's right.

Marcel:

Chicago is for real.

Marcel:

Chicago's for real.

Marcel:

Now they're not going to come out of the east.

Marcel:

And probably won't even make it to the Eastern conference finals,

Marcel:

but Chicago is a real deal.

Marcel:

Also.

Marcel:

Miami makes the playoffs Philly.

Marcel:

The next I know everybody's hiding the next right now, but they'll come

Marcel:

back to earth, Atlanta, Charlotte.

Marcel:

And then competing.

Marcel:

Eh, real close would be the Celtics.

Marcel:

And the wizards.

Marcel:

So again, in east I have the bucks, Brooklyn, the bull was Miami Philly,

Marcel:

New York, Atlanta, and Charlotte.

Marcel:

Being chased by the Celtics and the wizards in the finals.

Marcel:

It hurts me to say this, but I think it would be the

Marcel:

matchup that everybody wanted.

Marcel:

Last year.

Marcel:

You'll have Brooklyn coming out of the east and you'll have the Lakers.

Marcel:

Now I think the ledger is going to have problems.

Marcel:

With Brooklyn.

Marcel:

So therefore I'm picking Brooklyn to win it all this year.

Marcel:

So there you go.

Marcel:

Those are my NBA predictions for the season.

Marcel:

I gave you who's the real deal and who's fake for the NFL season

Marcel:

at this point in the season.

Marcel:

I'm your boy, Marcel hold tune into the next episode of the hallway podcast.
